Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
There are many AA conferences around the world. A common misconception about A.A. gatherings is that they are A.A. “meetings,” so there should be no dues or fees, per our Twelve Traditions. However, Gopher State Roundup and other conferences are special events and not regular A.A. meetings. This conference requires months of planning and preparation, and is paid for by registration fees. No baskets are passed during the event, and all excess funds are distributed to the service entities. Please see the Serve & Support Table Table at the roundup for more information, or Inquire Here.
